Suburban aimed popular media, such as the Jetsons and Star Trek, were particularly responsible for the historical memory promises of futurist visions, such as push-button technology. This theme cropped up in advertisements and illustrative imaginings of future technologies (see figures 51 and 52) but reached wider audiences in film and television media with science-fiction elements. The idea that computers and robots could take care of most necessary jobs and tasks was heavily promoted to women and blue color workers. Button-technology was both promoted as an aesthetic and practical improvement to previous iterations of technology and manual labor.
