Title

Airborne Vets Honor Their Invasion Dead in Holland

Description

This is a newspaper clipping that describes a memorial service held in Nijmegen, Holland for the 82nd airborne division war dead. Veteran Robert Ranger was a paratrooper for the 82nd airborne division and it had been believed that he was a victim of the war after he was shot in Holland. The family of Robert Ranger remember his own description of being left for dead in Holland. While laying paralyzed in the fields of Holland, Ranger recalled listening to the gentle sway of a nearby windmill. It was not until a meat truck arrived and someone tried to lift Ranger's body into the truck that he was discovered to be alive.
